I stayed in Cabo Roig in the Autumn of 2009 and couldnt believe how handy it was to the three championship golf courses in the area, Las Ramblas, Villamartin and Campoamor. We got a really cheap apartment but we could have hired a really cheap villa if we had thought to bring some more of the lads. Drink is so cheap there that you wouldnt be bothered buying drink in and the craic we had at night was incredible. We went to six different pubs in one night and we could have kept going, and they all had entertainment on. There was a great choice of restaurants along the strip. We literally walked out of our apartment block which had a lovely pool, which I have to say was used in the early hours of the morning a little too frequently (by yours truly) and we were on the strip. No crossing roads in a drunken state, just bar hopping, restaurant hopping and generally having a good time.
We all agreed we would bring the wives in summer coz theyd love the beaches and there would be so much for the kids to do. We could either get a bus or hop in a taxi to the Aquapark in the local town of Torrevieja, we could go to English movies now, I believe thats only a recent thing and the residents love it. Apparently they are given headphones to hear the movie in English. I cant imagine wanting to go to the movies on a sun holiday but things are changing. They even have satellite t.v. in the apartments, which would be great for the kids (not that we bothered watching t.v.). Where else would you get it in a hot country. Whooppee doo, a holiday where the kids could get up and just switch on the t.v. when the missus n me are too wrecked to get up early to entertain them. Okay its the easy way out but hey thats what holidays are for, especially cheap holidays. All the local touristy things are nearby, glass bottom boat, trip on a catamaran, weekend or weekday markets….!!
I definitely reckon Cabo Roig is worth considering to anyone out there on a tight budget this year who wants a quality holiday. Go for it folks, book your flights and get your cheap accommodation as soon as coz I reckon nobody will be staying home this year waiting for summer.
